New Hearing Technologies and Auditory Research Center

In 2011, the Research Center for New Hearing Technologies and Auditory was approved by the Deputy of Research and Technology of the Ministry of Health, Treatment, and Medical Education. This center works in the fields of understanding the hearing system and its diseases, treatment and rehabilitation of hearing and speech, prevention of hearing diseases, and manufacturing hearing treatment equipment.

The Cochlear Implant Center of Baqiyatallah Hospital also works in line with the goals and missions of the New Hearing Technologies Research Center.

  • Vision

The research center of New Hearing Technologies and Auditory, with dedicated and expert forces and the use of maximum scientific and specialized facilities as well as consistent communication with scientific centers inside and outside the country, will be the most prominent scientific, research, educational, and therapeutic site in the field of hearing problems in the Middle East region.

The goals and priorities of the center’s research areas are:

  • Understanding the auditory system and its diseases.
  • Treatment and rehabilitation of hearing and speech diseases.
  • Prevention of hearing diseases.
  • Manufacturing hearing treatment equipment.

  • Research in the field of more detailed understanding of the auditory system and its diseases based on the information available in the data bank of hearing-impaired and deaf patients who are candidates for cochlear implants, brainstem electrode implants, and implantable hearing aids.
  • Obtaining the latest and newest information in the world about the condition of deafness in people and new treatments.
  • Researching and inventing new treatment methods to cure deafness in patients, such as the use of stem cells, treatments based on gene therapy, and bio-implant.
  • Improving existing treatment methods such as cochlear implants, brainstem implants, and the implantation of implantable hearing aids.
  • Inventing and implementing new speech therapy methods to improve the speech status of the respective patients.
  • Improvement and correction of ear surgery methods and techniques for improving hearing and evaluating its results.
  • Research based on new methods in the field of treatment and rehabilitation of patients with vertigo and tinnitus.
  • Evaluating and checking the effectiveness of different diagnostic and screening methods for hearing loss and deafness and their improvement.
  • Implementation of research projects in line with preventive methods such as genetic tests to avoid the birth of a deaf child and the use of new methods and equipment to restrict acquired hearing loss.
  • Implementation of social and civic research to avoid the occurrence of hearing loss.
  • Accomplishing the latest achievements and technologies in the field of equipment used to detect and treat hearing problems.
  • Helping to build and equip devices used in hearing evaluations.
